POST OFFICE NOTIFICATION.

Intimation having been received that a Postal Convention entered into by the Colonial Govern- ment and the Postmaster General of the United States of America regulating the conveyance of Mails by the Packets of the Pacific Mail Steam Ship Company between Hongkong and Yokohama, and San Francisco, although not formally ratified in the United States for want of time, will be acted in the United States of America on the receipt of the Mails to be dispatched from Hongkong by the Company's Steamer China on the 26th instant, it is hereby notified for general information that correspondence, the postage on which has been prepaid at this Gffice by means of the Postage Stamps of this Colony, will be delivered free of any charge in the United States henceforward.

POST OFFICE NOTIFICATION.

It having come to the knowledge of the undersigned that a practice prevails of Merchants and others sending their Letters, or a portion of them, on board the Steamers of the Pacific Mail Company, and otherwise, instead of by the regular channel of this Department in contravention of the Postal Laws of this Colony as well as those of the United States, it is hereby notified that the Special Agents of the United States Post Office have received the strictest instructions to use every effort to detect persons so offending, and to put an end to the practice, and that it is intended to levy postage at double the ordinary rates upon all correspondence received from Hongkong by the Packets in question in the United States otherwise than through the medium of the Hongkong Post Office, whether the same bears the Postage Stamps of the United States or not.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders for the supply of Provisions and other Articles required for the use of Victoria Gaol, from the 21st November, 1867, to the 20th November, 1868, inclusive, will be received at this Office until Noon of the 18th instant.

All information required and blank Forms of Tender may be obtained on application to the Superintendent of Victoria Gaol.

Tenders to be addressed to the Colonial Secretary and endorsed, "Tender for Gaol Contract,

1868."

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders will be received at this Office until Noon of the 30th November, 1867, for the privilege of farming all granite quarries in Hongkong and Kowloon during the Year 1868.

Persons desirous of tendering are directed to call at the Surveyor General's Office to obtain a proper form of Tender.
