His Excellency SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL has been pleased to appoint, provisionally, the Honorable FREDERICK HENRY ALEXANDER FORTH to be Acting Police Magistrate, from this date until further notice.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
His Excellency SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL has received a Despatch from His Grace the Secretary of State for the Colonies, acquainting him that the Lords of the Committee of the Privy Council for Trade had been pleased to award a Sextant and a Certificate on Vellum to Mr. COOMEY, late Master of the British ship Buonaventure, in acknowledgment of his gallant defence of that Vessel against Pirates in July, 1866. His Excellency has however learned with regret the decease of Mr. COOMEY, whereby the Mercantile Marine has lost a valuable and gallant Officer.
Under these circumstances, His Excellency is anxious to receive information as to whether the late Mr. COOMEY has left any relations who might properly claim the reward, and hopes that any one seeing this Notification and who can give information on the subject will communicate early with the Colonial Secretary.

The Court having considered the evidence, conclude:-
