GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Servants' Certificates of Registration have been returned to this Office with remarks made thereon referring to the characters of those registered.

These endorsements are illegal, and in contravention of Section XXVI of the "Victoria Regis- tration Ordinance 1866."

Employers of Servants should, when necessary, fill in the column for noting the date of expiration of service, but make no further addition.

SAMUEL HARRIS TALBOT, trading under the name style or firm of TALBOT AND COMPANY, Defen-

dant.

HEREAS an Action has been commenced in this Court at the suit of the above named John Steward Lapraik against the above named Samuel Harris Talbot trading as aforesaid, to recover the sum of One thousand and thirty- nine Dolla~8 and sixty-four Cents for money paid by th, said John Steward Lapraik for the use of the said Samuel Harris Talbot at his re- quest and for money found to be due from the said Samuel Harris Talbot to the said John Steward Lapraik on an account stated between them, and it being alleged that the said Samuel Harris Talbot does not reside within this Island or its dependencies, a Writ of Foreign attachment has been issued returnable on the first day of April next, wherein William H. Talbot of Hong- kong aforesaid, Ship Chandler, is Garnishee.

Notice is hereby given thereof and if at any time before final judgment in this action the said Samuel Harris Talbot or any person trading on his behalf will give the security and notice and file the appearance or plea required by the Ordi- nance of this Island entituled "An Ordinance to provide for and regulate process in actions at Law against persons absent from the Colony," the said attachment may be dissolved.

and SAMUEL HARRIS TALBOT, trading under the name or firm of TALBOT AND COMPANY, Defendant. HEREAS an Action has been commenced.in this Court at the suit of the above named George B. Falconer as such Executor as aforesaid against the above named Samuel Harris Talbot tra- ding as aforesaid to recover the sum of Three thou- sand Dollars upon and by virtue of an Indenture of Mortgage dated the Nineteenth day of September One thousand Eight hundred and sixty-six whereby the said Samuel Harris Talbot covenanted to pay to the said William Henry Vickerman on demand the sum of Three thousand Dollars with interest thereon at the rate of twelve per cent per annum from the said Nineteenth day of Septem- ber One thousand Eight hundred and sixty-six and for money lent and advanced by the said William Henry Vickerman in his life time to the said Samuel Harris Talbot and for money found to be due from the said Samuel Harris Talbot to the said George B. Falconer as Executor as afore- said on accounts stated between them and for interest thereon and it being alleged that the said

6 A.M. fine; at 9.30 A.M. passing fog and

slight rain; at 1 P.M. thick fog with heavy rain at intervals.

Samuel Harris does not reside within this Island or its dependencies a Writ of Foreign Attachment has been issued returnable on the first day of April next wherein William H. Talbot of Hong- kong, Ship Chandler, is Garnishee.
