By His Excellency SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL, Knight, and Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.
Whereas the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty The QUEEN, conveyed through His Grace The Duke of BUCKINGHAM AND CHANDOS, Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, have been received, disallowing Ordinance No. 9 of 1868, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, for amending the Law relating to the Granting of Pensions and other Allowances to the Police Force:"
Notice is hereby given of the same, and the Provisions of that Ordinance are declared to be null and void, and of no effect.

No. 10 or 1868.
An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to amend Ordinance No. 11 of 1844, and to enable the Justices of the Peace to grant Licenses for the Sale of Fermented and Spirituous Liquors by Hotel Keepers, Restaurateurs and Confectioners.
[13th October, 1868.]
WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Law relating to the
Licensing of Public Houses, and to give power to Justices of the Peace to grant Licenses for the Sale by Retail of fermented and spirituous Liquors by Persons carrying on the Business of Hotel Keepers, Restaurateurs and Confectioners: Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

11 of 1844
I. There shall be added to Section II of Ordinance No. 11 Section 2 of of 1844 the Words, "excepting in such Cases wherein it may be Ordinance No. "desirable to grant Licenses for a shorter Period than One Year, amended. "in order that such Licenses shall always expire on the 30th "November."
II. There shall be added to Section VII of the said Ordinance Proportional No. 11 of 1844, the Words hereafter mentioned, that is to say: sum only to be "Provided always that in Cases wherein Licenses are granted for paid when
any Period less than One Year, there shall be payable only a than a Year. "proportionate Amount of the said Sum of Three Hundred Dollars "with Ten per cent added."

III. Notwithstanding anything contained in Ordinance No. Power to 11 of 1844, it shall be lawful for the Justices of the Peace to grant Justices of the Licenses for the Sale of fermented and spirituous Liquors by Peace to grant Retail to Persons carrying on the Business of Hotel Keepers, Licenses, Restaurateurs, or Confectioners, and the Forms of Application, Recognizance, Certificate and License shall, when Persons carry on such Business as aforesaid, be in the Forms, contained in the Schedule hereunto annexed, marked respectively E, F, G, and H.
