GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office, until Noon on Tuesday, the 25th instant, for the supply of the undermentioned Articles for the use of the Police Department, for Six Months, from the 1st Proximo until 28th February 1869, viz:-

Oil per jar of 24 catties; Lamp Wick, large and small, per dozen; Waste Paper, per catty; Lamp Chimneys; Baskets, each; Brooms, per dozen; Buckets; Tubs, each; Salt and Soap, per lb.; Gram, Paddy, Bran, Oats and Straw per pecul; and Hay per truss.

The above Articles must be of good quality deliverable at the Central Police Barracks at such time and in such quantities as may be required.

Any further particulars will be given on application at the Office of the Superintendent of Police.

The following Orders by The GOVERNOR in Council are published for general information.

ORDERS

J. GARDINER AUSTIN, Colonial Secretary.

Made by His Excellency Governor SIR RICHARD Graves MACDONNELL, C.B. in Council,

this 7th Day of July, 1868.

Whereas an Ordinance was on the 22nd of May last enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to enable the Governor to co-operate with the Chinese Authorities for the Suppression of Piracy; And Whereas it was by the same Ordinance enacted that it should be lawful for the Governor in Council from Time to Time to frame such Orders to be enforced by such Fines and Penalties as the Governor in Council should deem expedient, including Forfeiture of Vessel, for preventing all or any description of Fishing Vessels, and Trading Junks from carrying Arms or Munitions of War including Stink Pots; And Whereas it was by the same Ordinance
