Tenders will be received at this Office up to Noon of Monday, the 20th Instant, for the Privilege of preparing and selling Prepared Opium within this Colony for One Year from the 1st of August, 1868, under the conditions set forth in Ordinance No. 2 of 1858.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

With a view to the general convenience of the Mercantile Community, and to the better security of the Correspondence posted during the night preceding departure of each fortnightly P. & O. Mail for Europe, His Excellency the GOVERNOR has directed that the Post Office be kept open during the night preceding the departure of every Mail aforesaid, and that there shall be a Clerk in attendance. Instead of the Night Box formerly affixed to the railings Letters and Newspapers can in future be posted in the second Pier from the South West Corner of the Verandah of the Post Office,-the Box for receipt of Newspapers and Correspondence so posted being placed within the main wall of the building.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Whereas about 9 o'clock on the evening of the 31st ultimo, an attempt was made to set Fire to the Office of the Union Dock Company ("Limited,") the said Office being situate on the S.W. angle of the Hongkong Hotel in this Colony, by placing parcels of Gunpowder round the said Office, and laying over them lighted Joss-sticks and other combustible matter:

It is hereby notified that, in addition to the Reward of $500 offered by the Directors of the said Company to the Person or Persons who can give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the parties implicated in such attempt, a Free Pardon will be granted by His Excellency The Governor to any Person,-the Principal in the first Degree only excepted,-who shall give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of one or more of the guilty Parties.
