GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

His Excellency SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL, C.B., has been pleased to recognize provision- ally, and pending reference to Her Majesty's Government, the Honorable WILLIAM KESWICK as Acting Consul for the Kingdom of Italy, in the place of JOHN DENT, Esquire, resigned.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The following Despatch from Her Britannic Majesty's Consul at Manila, announcing the exemp- tion from Import Dues of certain Articles of Commerce, is published for general information.

H. B. M.'s CONSULATE,

MANILA, 19th April, 1868.

SIR, I have the honor to inform your Excellency that the Royal Decree referred to in my Despatch to your Excellency of the 11th instant, has (although dated with the "cumplase" at Manila 16th April) been only this day publicly notified in the Official Gazette by order of the local authorities.

The following articles have been thereby exempted from Import dues at this Port from the 18th February last, without distinction as to flag, viz.:-

1o. Salad Oil,

2o. Rice.

3o Codfish.

4o Meat of Oxen, Sheep, and Hogs, salted or smoked, also Hams and Venison.

5o. Chick Peas.

6. Grains, Herbs and Seeds, as Hay, Rye, Beans, Maize, Lentils, and the like. 70. Flour of Wheat and other Cereals.

8. Green garden Herbs, Garlic, Onions, Potatoes, and the like.

9°. Butter and Lard.

10°. Feculas Alimenticias."

11. Fish, salted, dried and pickled, and salted Sardines.

12o. Hung Beef.

13o Bacon.

14o Wheat.

15° Cattle (for food.)

16. Beasts of burden, Asses and Horses.

17o Trees, Plants, and Seeds.

18°. Coal.

19. Live Fish.
