GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
The following Letter from the United States Consul, respecting Ships carrying Chinese Passengers from Hongkong to Ports in the United States, is published for general information.

UNITED STATES CONSULATE, HONGKONG, September 10th, 1869. SIR,-I beg leave to state for your information that, hereafter, all Ships, of whatever Nationality, sailing bence to a Port in the United States, carrying Chinese Passengers, will be required to produce the Certificate of the U. S. Consul at this Port to the Collector of Customs at the Port of destination, attesting the voluntary character of such emigration, before such Vessel will be permitted to make entry.
