THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 10TH JULY, 1869.

Dominica, Virginias, St. Vincent, Tobago, and Mauritius, I have thought proper to ordain, as individual of the Provisional Government and Minister of the Colonies, that in accordance with the tenor of the Royal Decree of the 4th June last, and in virtue of the reciprocity established by the same in the matter of Port and Navigation Dues, that English ships proceeding from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the aforesaid English possessions, be placed on the same footing in the Spanish Colonial provinces as Spanish ships for the exaction of the said Dues.

TRANSLATION.

An order has been directed to the Superior Civil Governors of Cuba, Puerto-Rico, and the Philippines by the Minister of the Colonies, ordaining that the reciprocity conceded in Orders lately published, to Swedish, Norwegian, and Dutch ships from Colonies and possessions situated out of Europe, and to those of various English Colonies, in the payment of Port and Navigation Dues, is understood to be granted to the Flag, not taking into account in any way the port of departure of the said ships; and that consequently, on the arrival at the Spanish Colonial provinces of a vessel belonging to any Nation or Colony with which equality of treatment in the payment of the said Dues shall have been established, it shall be considered as Spanish vessels are, be the port of its departure what it may.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders will be received at the Registrar General's Office up to Noon of Saturday, the 24th Instant, for the Privilege of preparing and selling Prepared Opium within this Colony for One year from the 1st of August, 1869, under the Conditions set forth in Ordinance No. 2 of 1858.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

With reference to Government Notification No. 67 of 11th ultimo, it is hereby notified that, for the ensuing 12 months from the 1st instant, the Western Slaughter House, is held by Tong Pui, of Victoria, Trader, at a monthly Rental of $1,060; and the Eastern by Lau Wai, also of Victoria, Trader, at a monthly Rental of $340.

NEW LIGHTHOUSES IN COURSE OF ERECTION ON THE COASTS OF NEW ZEALAND.

Marine Department, WELLINGTON, 22nd April, 1869.

Several new Lighthouses being in course of erection in New Zealand, the following preliminary description of them is published for general information; more exact and detailed descriptions will be published when the works are more advanced.

It is anticipated that the lights will be ready for exhibition early in 1870.

1.-Lighthouse on Farewell Spit, Cook Strait.

The lighthouse is to be erected in the immediate vicinity of "Bush End, Cook Strait.

The light is intended to show all round, and is to be a REVOLVING WHITE LIGHT, of the second order dioptric, attaining its greatest brilliance once a minute.

Over the Spit end it is intended to make the light show RED instead of white as elsewhere, in order to caution mariners of their approach to that danger.
