GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The following Letter from Her Majesty's Consul at Manila, respecting the equalisation of Port Dues in the Philippine Islands, is published for general information.

SIR, I have the honour to forward herewith inclosed to your Excellency, two decrees in translation issued by the Provisional Government at Madrid relative to the reciprocity conceded to British ships entering Philippine ports in the matter of the payment of Port and Navigation Dues.

On a reference to that bearing date the 25th of March, it will be observed that all vessels under the British flag entering the Spanish Colonial possessions, whatever may have been the port of their departure, are as regards the payment of those dues, entitled to the enjoyment of equal benefits with those under the Spanish flag. I have the honour to be, with the greatest respect, Sir, Your Excellency's most obedient and most humble Servant,

MOST EXCELLENT SIR,-In view of various communications made to this Ministerial Department by that of State, transmitting different Notes of the Minister Plenipotentiary of H. B.
