GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Under Provisions of Ordinance No. 11 of 1844, Notice is hereby given that a Special Session of the Justices of the Peace will be held at the Police Magistrates' Court, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon of Thursday, the Fifth day of January next; and thereafter, on the First Thursday of every Month, for the purpose of considering applications for granting or transferring Spirit Licenses during the Year 1871.
Such applications to be lodged at the Police Magistrates' Court at least Ten Days before each of the Sessions now notified.

The following Notice to Mariners, received from the Government of Bombay, is published for general information.

Is hereby given that a light will be shewn on and after the 1st December 1870 from a Light House erected on the outermost rock of a group known as the Burut Islands, or Vingorla Rocks, situated in Latitude 15° 53′ 17′′ North, and Longi- tude 73° 26′ 43′′ East, and bearing from Vingorla Point, No. 77° W, distant 9 miles and Malwan due South, distant 94 miles. The Light is a Dioptric Light of the 4th Order having a visible compass of 288°, and its height above the Sea is 110 feet.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
On and after the First of December, and until further notice, the Government Telegraph, which is now completed round the Island, will be opened to the Public free of charge.
The Stations from and to which messages may be sent are:-
The Central Police Station, (Head Office).
No. 7 Police Station, (opposite the Sailor's Home).
No. 2 Police Station, (Praya East near Wanchai Road).
No. 6 Police Station, (at the Gap).
Pokfoolum Police Station.
Aberdeen Police Station, (for the Docks).
Stanley Police Station.
Sow-kee-wan Police Station.
It is requested that complaints with reference to delays, or any other irregularity, may be made to the Surveyor General.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Notice is hereby given that this Government is prepared to receive Tenders for Gaming House Licences under the Rules made by His Excellency The Governor in Council pursuant to Section XVIII of Ordinance No. 9 of 1867.
The monthly Fees are fixed at $13,340, and the Licences will be granted subject to the revised Rules and Regulations made by the Governor in Council on the 14th January, 1870, and to other Rules as may from time to time be passed by the Governor in Council.
