DOWNING STREET, 12th July, 1870. SIR-I transmit to you, herewith, a copy of a Letter from the Secretary to the Royal Naval ol at New Cross, intimating that the Council have adopted a Resolution to extend the advantages the School, at a reduced charge, to the Sons of Civil Servants of the Crown at home and abroad. i also enclose copies of the Prospectus, which explains the system of the School; and I have
to request that you will take such measures as you may think desirable for giving publicity to this
rangement within your Government.
It has been further explained by the Council of the Royal Naval School, that the term “Limited Sumber" at the head of the Prospectus is intended to imply that admissions will depend upon there

Each application, therefore, will be considered separately by the Council of the School, and you will perceive that applications are to be addressed direct to the Secretary aloue.-I have the honor to

ROYAL NAVAL SCHOOL, NEW CROSS, KENT, 14th May, 1870.
SIR,--I am directed to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that at a recent meeting of the Council, Admiral the Honorable A. Duncombe, President, the Chair, it was resolved unanimously to extend the advantages of this School to sons of Civil Servants of the Crown, by admitting them on an annual payment of £45 for board and education, the harge to those who are not in Her Majesty's Service being £57 10s.
In making this announcement, the Council solicit a similar favor to that granted by the Com- mander-in-Chief, the other Secretaries of State, the Admiralty, the Customs, Inland Revenue, and her heads of Public Departments, viz., permission to send to you, for circulation amongst the Antlemen employed, both at home and abroad, under the Colonial Office, a certain number of pies of the enclosed Prospectus, which will give all necessary details relative to the admission of
new class of pupils, the number of whom is limited by the bye-laws of this Corporation.
