BRITISH CONSULATE, CANTON, 13th June, 1870.

Referring to your despatch No. 647 of the 14th December last with its enclosures reporting order of certain of the Crew of the British barque Croiton on the Island of Apomi in the Marhood of Maçao, I have the honour to state that the Chinese Authorities have spared no as to arrest these concerned in this act of barbarity, and the result has been repeated examina those who were so arrested and the proof of guilt having been brought home to two, with spicions of complicity against one, Han-a-lin by name, but who died in prison before being guilty.

I have now to inform you that the two whose guilt was proved, Yeh-kwan-hing and Yeh-shih-feng tae, were executed by decapitation yesterday at two o'clock in the afternoon: previous, however, taking place, I urged strongly on the Prefect who tried these men, not to execute them if the doubt of their guilt existed, but he assured me there was none whatever and that they deserved
