made; and also to pay and discharge, from time to time, when the same shall be demanded all fees, charges, and sums of money due and payable in respect of any Appeal, Petition, other matter in and upon which we shall severally and respectively appear as such Solicitor or Agents.

II. Every Proctor, Solicitor, or Attorney practising in London, and duly admitted in any of th Courts of Westminster, shall be allowed to subscribe the foregoing Declaration, and to practise in th Privy Council, upon the production of his Certificate for the current year; and no fee shall be payabl by him on the enrolment of his signature to the foregoing Declaration.

II. Persons not being certificated London Solicitors, but having been duly admitted to practis as Solicitors by the High Courts of Judicature in India or in the Colonies respectively, may apply, b; petition, to the Lords of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council for leave to be admitted practise in the Privy Council; and such persons, if admitted to practise by an Order of their Lordships shall pay annually, on the 15th November, a fee of five guineas to the Fee Fund of the Council Office IV. Any Proctor, Solicitor, Agent, or other person practising before the Privy Council, whe shall wilfully act in violation of the Rules and Practice of the Privy Council, or of any Rules prescribed by the authority of Her Majesty, or of the Lords of the Council, or who shall wilfully misconduct himself in prosecuting proceedings before the Privy Council, or any Committee thereof, or who shall refuse or omit to pay the Council Office fees or charges payable from him when demanded, shall be liable to an absolute or temporary prohibition to practise before the Privy Council, by the authority of the Lords of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, upon cause shown at their Lordships' Bar.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The following Decision of the Marine Court of Inquiry into the conduct of JAMES MIDDLETON. Master of the British Ship Fiery Cross, Official Number 29,165, is published for general information. By Command,

FINDING.

First.---That JAMES MIDDLETON, Number of whose Certificate of Competency is 5,367, Master of the British ship Fiery Cross, Official Number 29,165 was, during the voyage from London to Hongkong, at times under the influence of intoxicating liquors, but there is no evidence to show that he was on any occasion incapable of performing his duties.

Second. That from the 21st to 25th instant inclusive, whilst in the Harbor of Hongkong, JAMES

MIDDLETON was in a state of intoxication, and unable to attend to his duties.

The Court adjudges that JAMES MIDDLETON'S Certificate of Competency be suspended for Six Months from this date.

In passing so lenient a sentence, the Court has been guided by the good character which JAMES MIDDLETON has hitherto held as shown by his Certificates.

The above Report of the Investigation held by a Marine Court upon the conduct of JAMES MIDDLETON, Master Mariner, is hereby confirmed by me, under the Provisions of Section 242 of "The Merchant Shipping Act, 1854.”
