It is hereby notified for general information, that the rates of postage (which must be paid in advance) upon Letters addressed to Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, will henceforward be as follows, viz. :-

PROCLAMATION.

[L.S.] RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL

By His Excellency SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL, Knight, and Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.

Whereas the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty The QUEEN, conveyed through The Right Honorable Earl GRANVILLE, K.G., Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, have been received, approving of and confirming the following Ordinances, namely:

No. 1 of 1868, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to make Provision for the more effectual Suppression of Piracy;

No. 1 of 1869, entitled--An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to make further Provision in relation to the Vacation of the Supreme Court and the Transaction of Business during the same in certain Cases; No. 4 of 1869, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to amend the Law relating to “ Promissory Oaths"; No. 6 of 1869, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to amend "The Ordinance for the Suppression of Piracy (Hongkong), 1868”;

No. 7 of 1869, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the. Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to empower the Governor in Council to deal with Moral Claims to Funds confiscated for Colonial Purposes;

No. 8 of 1869, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, for amending the Law relating to the Granting of Pensions and other Allowances to the Police Force;

No. 9 of 1869, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to empower the Colonial Treasurer to recover in the Court of Summary Jurisdiction Crown Debts under Five hundred Dollars for Rent and for certain Assessments and Fees;

No. 10 of 1869, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to make further Provision for the Maintenance of Order on the occasion of Public Assemblages:-

Now, therefore, it is hereby declared, that the said Ordinances have been so approved and confirmed, as aforesaid.
