It is hereby notified for general information that henceforward the rates of postage, which mu be paid in advance, on Book Packets and Packets of Patterns, addressed to the undermentione British Colonies and Foreign Countries, viz.:

POST OFFICE NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified for general information that, henceforwards the postage on a Letter 1 exceeding half-an-ounce in weight posted in Hongkong or at any of the British Post Office Agenc in China and Japan addressed to Italy, and conveyed by British Packet to Alexandria will be Twe
cents.
For Letters exceeding half-an-ounce in weight, a further rate of Twelve cents for each half-ou is chargeable.
Newspapers 2 cents each.
Prepayment of the postage is compulsory.
It must be understood that these rates cover the postage on correspondence addressed to Italy. Alexandria only, leaving the postage for its conveyance from Alexandria to Italy, which cannot paid in advance at Hongkong, to be collected on delivery.
Book Packets and Packets of Patterns and Samples of Merchandize may also be forwarded Italy at reduced rates of postage, but the postage on these Articles cannot be paid in advance eit wholly or in part.
