Notice is hereby given that the Crown Rents for the Half Year ending 25th December, 1871, should be paid into the Treasury on or before the 15th January next.

FIRE BRIGADE OFFICE, HONGKONG, 6th December, 1871. SIR,-I have the honor to submit for the information of His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, the Report of the Government Fire Brigade for the Month of Noveinber last.
An Inspection of the Government Fire Engines, Stores and Equipment was had on the 18th November, all were found clean and in order.
An Inspection and Parade of the Volunteer and Government Brigades was had on the 30th November. The assembly took place at the Cross Roads at 4 P.M., and thence the Engines were taken to the Praya near Cleverley Street, and brought to work from the Sea. Three Hand Engines of Chinese Associations were present, and the Chinese Volunteers turned out in force.
The whole of the Engines both "Hand" and "Steam" were found in good order. The Steam Engines propelled water in twelve minutes from the time of lighting fires.
