The following Notice from the Honorable The Acting Colonial Treasurer is published for general Information.

NOTICE.
Owners of Tencinents assessed to the Police, Lighting, Water and Fire Brigade Rates, are nformed that the Rates for the Fourth Quarter of the year 1871 are payable in advance during and with the month of October next.
Rate Payers are requested to take Notice that Parties in default in payment of Rates after the eriod specified, are liable to be sued in the Court of Summary Jurisdiction.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office, until Noon on Tuesday, the 10th October next, for the making up and supply of the undermentionc Winter Clothing for the use of the Police Department, viz. :--
20 Fine Blue Cloth Suits for Inspectors, Jemadhars, &c.
400 Blue Cloth Suits for Europeans and Indians.
265 Serge Suits for Chinese.
160 Turbans.
265 Bamboo Hats.
265 l'airs Chinese Shoes.
130 Pairs Chinese Stocking.
Pine Cloth with Buff for facings will be supplied from the Police Stores, as also the Serge for the Chinese Force and Materials for Turbans.
No Tenders will be received unless the Person tendering shall produce a receipt to the effect that e has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $100 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if such person shall refuse to carry out his Tender.
Forin of Tender and any further information can be obtained on application at the Office of the Captain Superintendent of Police.
No Tender will be received unless sent in the Form required.
The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any Tender.
