An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to authorize the Appropriation of a Supplementary Sum not exceeding Eight thousand Dollars to defray the Charges of the Year 1870. -

HEREAS it has become necessary to make further Provi- Preamble.

1870, in addition to the Charge upon the Revenue for the Service of the said Year already provided for in the Estimates submitted to the "Legislative Council: Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

I. A Sum not exceeding Eight thousand Dollars shall be and Supplement- the same is hereby charged upon the Revenue of this Colony for ary Estimates, the Service of the Year 1870, the said Sum so charged being expended as hereinafter specified, that is to say:-

An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to empower the Governor from Time to Time to enrol Constables in the Police Force for Periods of less than Five Years, and upon special Terms and Conditions.

HEREAS by Ordinance No. 9 of 1862, Power is given to the Governor to enrol Constables in the Police Force established thereunder for the Period of Five Years upon the Terms and Conditions in the said Ordinance specified and contained; AND WHEREAS it is expedient to empower the Governor from Time to Time to raise an Auxiliary Police Force by enrolling Constables for Periods of less than Five Years and on such Terms and Conditions as hereinafter mentioned: Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows :--
