The subjoined Post Office Notice is published for general information.

POST OFFICE NOTICE.
It is hereby notified that arrangements have been concluded according to which a regular exchange of direct Mails will take place, by means of the BRITISH MAIL PACKETS, between this Office and Brindisi.
The Mails from Hongkong will comprise, not only correspondence addressed to Italy, but also
·CorrespoL dence addressed to the several States of the Continent beyond Italy.
The prepayment of the postage on ordinary Letters is optional.
The postage on registered Letters must be prepaid: the charge for registration being the same sum as the postage on each Letter.
The prepayment of the postage on Newspapers, other printed papers and packets of patterns is compulsory.
The rates of postage are as follows, viz.:-

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office, until Noon on Tuesday, the 22:3 instant, for the supply of the undermentioned Articles for the use of the Police Department, for Six Months, from the 1st of September, 1871, to the 28th February, 1872, viz. :-
Oil.
Lampwick. Buckets.
Tubs. Salt.
Grain. Soap.
Bran.
Paddy.
Oats. Straw.
Hay.
Per jar
of
(Large and small)
Each.
Per lb.
Per pecul.
Per tra
24 catties. per dozen.
The above enumerated Articles must be of good quality, deliverable at the Central Police B racks, at such time and in such quantities as may be required.
Forms of Tender and any further information can be obtained on application at the Office of th Captain Superintendent of Police.
No Tenders will be received unless sent in the Form required.
