POST OFFICE NOTICE.
It is hereby notified that, pending the completion of negociations now being carried on with the Italian Post Office, under which it is proposed to establish a regular exchange of direct Mails between Hongkong end the Continent of Europe via Brindisi, Letters for the Continent forwarded by Brid Mail Packet, when specially addressed via Brindisi, will be sent in the Mails for the British Post Offic at Alexandria, paid to that place only, whence they will be forwarded via Brindisi, as directed.
The postage, which must be paid in advance, is 12 cents per 4-ounce on Letters, one penny on each Newspaper or Price Current, and six cents for each four ounces on Book Packets and Packets of Patterns, and such correspondence is liable to a further charge on delivery.

CONDITIONS OF SALE.

1. The highest bidder above the upset price shall be the Purchaser, and if any dispute arise the Lot shall be put up again at a former bidding.
2. No person shall at any bidding advance less than $50.
3. Immediately after the fall of the hammer, the Purchaser shall sign the Memorandum of Agreement hereinafter contained for completing the purchase according to these Conditions, and shall within Three Days of the day of Sale pay into the Colonial Treasury a deposit of one half of the amount of Premium at which the Lot shall have been knocked down, and within one Calendar Montà from the day of Sale at the aforesaid Treasury pay the remaining half of thę said Premium.
4. The Purchaser of the Lot shall be entitled to and shall execute on demand a Lease from the Crown of the Piece or Parcel of Ground comprised in such Lot. for 999 years, to be compute from the day of 1871, at such Annual Rental payable half yearly on the 24th day of De cember, and the 24th day of June in every year as is specified in the Particulars of such Lot herein before contained; and such Crown Lease shall be subject to and contain all the exceptions, reservations covenants, clauses, and conditions usually inserted in the Crown Leases of Lots in the Colony Hongkong and also all such special Exceptions, Reservations, Covenants, Clauses and Conditions" are contained in the draft of the Lease which may be inspected on application at the Surveyor Ger ral's Office previously to the Sale.
5. The Purchaser of this Lot shall pay to the Surveyor General on behalf of Her Majesty T QUEEN a Fee of $5 upon the execution of the Crown Lease thereof.

6. Should the Purchaser neglect or fail to comply with these Conditions, his Premium er portion thereof which may be paid shall be thereupon forfeited to Her Majesty, who shall be at i- liberty either to enforce the sale, or to re-sell the Property at such time and place and in such man as to Her Majesty shall seem fit, and in case of a re-sale the increase, if any, of the Premium or chase Money shall be retained by Her Majesty, and the deficiency, if any, and all costs and expeék shall be made good by the Defaulter and be recoverable as liquidated damages.
7. Possession of the Lot sold shall be given to the Purchaser, and deemed to have been taken ** him on the day of Sale.
