The following Hydrographic Notices, received from the Harbor Master at Shanghae, are published for general information.

HYDROGRAPHIC NOTICES. [No. 1 of 1871.]

TELEGRAPH CABLE.

Notice is hereby given, that two boards have been erected below the "Inner Marks" to indicate the position of the Great Northern Telegraph Cable where it will cross the River.

The Cable will lay in a line N.E. by N. and S.W. by S., midway between the two marks.

Vessels are requested not to anchor, or dredge their anchors, between these two marks, and in case of fouling the Cable, to report the same to the Harbour Master's Department, at Woosung, and not attempt to purchase the anchor, as by so doing the Cable might be scriously injured.

LANGSIAN CROSSING AND CONFUCIUS CHANNEL, UPPER YANGTSZE. Notice is hereby given, that on or about the 10th of March, the Langshan Lightship and Buoys will be removed to the proper position to mark the Fairway Channel, as determined by the survey of Captain H. C. Blake and Officers of the U.S.S. Alaska.

LANGSHAN LIGHTSHIP,

Will be moored in the Fairway, in 7 fathoms water. Bearings-

Langshan Pagoda

Fushan Fort

Flat Tree

Plover Point (extreme end)

Will be moored on the Eastern point of the Shoal. Bearings-

Langshan Pagoda..

Lightship (new position). Fashan Fort...

The Confucius Channel will be marked by

Fairway Booy, black and white stripes.

The Red Buoy to the Westward of Acteon Shoal will be painted black and white, and remain in its present position as
