MINDORO SEA-PALAWAN~EAST COAST.

Shoal off Bold Point.

The Spanish Government has given Notice that a shoal has lately been discovered by the Spanish steam-vessel Constancia off Bold point, East Coast of Palawan.

The shoal (Constancia shoal), the general extent of which is unknown, had 3 fathoms on it, sand and coral, where first sounded on, but the depth increased to 11 fathoms about one mile to the N, W., and again decreased from that depth in a W.S.W. direction. The shoal part lies E. by S., 15 miles from Bold point, which places it in lat. 9° 58′ N., long. 119°

5 East from Greenwich.

PHILIPPINE ISLANDS-LUZON-MANILA BAY. Alteration in Manila Light.

Also, that a new apparatus has been fitted to the lighthouse at the entrance of the Rio Pasig, Manila. The light is now a fixed red light, and in clear weather should be seen from a distance of 9 miles. The illuminating apparatus is dioptric or by lenses, of the sixth order.

CHINA-EAST COAST.

Exhibition of Light en North Saddle Island.

With reference to Notice to Mariners, No. 110, dated 21st October 1870, respecting the establishment of a revolving light on the north-east extreme of North Saddle island, information has been published in the London and China Telegraph that the light is now exhibited.

The light is a revolving white light, attaining its greatest brilliancy every minute, elevated 265 feet above the sea, and in clear weather should be seen from a distance of 23 miles.

The illuminating apparatus is dioptric or by lenses, of the first order.

The tower is 25 feet high. Position, lat. 30° 50′ 20′′ N., long. 122° 40′ E.

JAPAN-GULF OF YEDO. Buoy in Yokohama Bay.

The Japanese Government has given Notice, that a red buoy with staff and cage has been placed at the point of the spit extending from Kanagawa fort to the northern side of Yokohama anchorage.

The buoy is moored in four fathoms at low water springs, and lies S.E. by E. easterly, one mile from the centre of Kanagawa fort.

[All Bearings are Magnetic. Variation 3 Westerly in 1871.]

JAPAN-YEDO GULF ENTRANCE. Fixed Light on Joka-Sima.

The Japanese Government has given Notice, that a light is now exhibited from a lighthouse on the west end of Joka-sima,

near Misaki, west side of Entrance to Yedo gulf, instead of the wood fire hitherto shown.

The light is a fixed white light, visible from S. by E. E., by East to N. by W. W., elevated 106 feet above the sea, and in clear weather should be seen from a distance of 9 miles.

The illuminating apparatus is dioptric or by lenses, of the fourth order.
