PROCLAMATION.

VOL. XVIII.

By His Excellency SIR ARTHUR Edward KennedyY, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.

Whereas by Section II of Ordinance No. 9 of 1858, it is enacted among other things that it shall be lawful for His Excellency the Governor in Council to establish any new Market within the District of Victoria; And whereas by Section VIII of "The Markets Ordinance, 1867," it is enacted that the expression "District of Victoria," shall mean the Nine Districts of the City of Victoria established and defined by Section III of the "Victoria Registration Ordinance, 1866," and shall extend to and include such other Localities in the Colony as the Governor in Council may from time to time direct, and as shall be signified by Proclamation under the Hand of the Governor; And whereas it is proposed by His Excellency the Governor to establish a new Market in the Village of Shau-ki-wán, being a locality not included at present within the "District of Victoria" as defined by Section VIII of "The Markets Ordinance, 1867:"

Now, therefore, I, SIR ARTHUR EDWARD KENNEDY, Governor as aforesaid, in pursuance of the said last mentioned Section and by virtue of the Authority thereby in me vested, do by this Procla- mation under my Hand signify that the Expression "District of Victoria" in Section II of Ordinance No. 9 of 1858 shall extend to and include the said Village of Shau-ki-wán.

Whereas the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty The QUEEN, conveyed through The Right Honourable The Earl of KIMBERLEY, Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, have been received, approving of and confirming the following Ordinance; namely:---

No. 9 of 1872, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, for the Prevention of the Carriage of dangerous Goods on board Foreign Ships without due Notice:

Now, therefore, it is hereby declared, that the said Ordinance has been so approved and confirmed, as aforesaid.
