Now, therefore, I, SIR ARTHUR EDWARD KENNEDY, Governor as aforesaid, by this my Proclamation issued for that purpose, do declare that, on and from the 1st January, 1873, the following shall be the Scale of Dietary in place of the one now in Force for all Chinese Passenger Ships proceeding on a Voyage of over Thirty days' duration, that is to say:-

Note.-Fresh Vegetables to be issued during the first month of the voyage only, unless the Master shall obtain a fresh supply en route, when these articles may be again supplied in the above proportion.

Given under my Hand and Seal of the Colony, at Government House, Victoria, Hongkong, this 1st Day of November, in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Seventy-two, and in the Thirty-sixth Year of Her Majesty's Reign.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency SIR ARTHUR Edward Kennedy, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.

Whereas by Section XXIV of Ordinance No. 7 of 1872, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, for registering Births and Deaths in Hongkong,—it is enacted as follows:----

"This Ordinance shall come into force on such Day as shall be hereafter fixed by Proclamation "under the Hand of the Governor" :-

Now, therefore, I, SIR ARTHUR EDWARD KENNEDY, Governor of the Colony of Hongkong, in pursuance of the said Section and by virtue of the Authority thereby in me vested, do hereby under my Hand Proclaim, that the said Ordinance shall commence and take effect on and from the 1st Day of January, 1873.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that the Regulations hitherto in force regarding the erection of Verandahs over Crown Land are hereby rescinded.

Each application for building such Verandahs will be separately considered.
