PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency SIR ARTHUR EDWARD KENNEDY, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.

Whereas the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty The QUEEN, conveyed through The Right Honourable The Earl of KIMBERLEY, Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, have been received, disallowing Ordinance No. 1 of 1872, entitled-An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Ilongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to amend Ordinance No. 5 of 1866, and to give to the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Company certain extended Powers:—

Notice is hereby given of the same, and the Provisions of the Ordinance aforesaid are declared to be null and void, and of no effect.

It is hereby notified, that the Appointment of WILLIAM HASTINGS ALEXANDER, Esquire, to a Seat in the Legislative Council of Hongkong, was approved by Her Majesty The QUEEN on the 19th of August, 1872.
