JAPAN-KIUSIU-INLAND SEA.
Fixed Light on Isaki.
The Japanese Government has given Notice, that a light is now exhibited from a lighthouse recently erected on Isaki, south point of the western entrance of Simonoseki strait.
The light is a fixed light, showing red from E. by S. round by south and west to N.W. W. and white from the latter bearing to N. E.; it is elevated 122 feet, and in clear weather should be seen from a distance of 17 miles.
The illuminating apparatus is of the fourth order.
The tower, of granite, is 31 feet high, and is situated on the north-east extreme of the point. Position, lat. 33° 58′ N., long. 131° 1′ E. NOTE. The junction of the red and white lights bearing N.W. 2 W. clears the shoals off Motoyama.
[All Bearings are Magnetic. Variation 4° Westerly in 1872.]

INDIAN ARCHIPELAGO—JAVA.
Fixed Light on Duiven Island.
The Netherlands Government has given Notice, that a lighthouse is in course of erection on Duiven or Gilboa island (Pigeon island), north entrance of Baly strait, from which a fixed white light will be exhibited, elevated 55 feet above the level of high water springs, and in clear weather should be seen from a distance of 15 miles.
The illuminating apparatus is of the fourth order. The tower is open ironwork and is 30 feet high.
Position, lat. 8° 2′ 30′′ S., long. 114° 27′ E.
Fixed Harbour Light at Samarang.
Also, that on the completion of the harbour works at Samarang, north coast of Java, a fixed white light of the sixth order, which should be seen 8 miles, will be exhibited from an iron pillar.
Revolving Light on Boompjes Islands.
Also, that a lighthouse is in the course of erection on the south-east point of Rackit, the southernmost of the Boompjes islands, north coast of Java, from which a revolving white light will be exhibited, elevated 175 feet above the level of high water springs, and in clear weather should be seen from a distance of 23 miles.
The illuminating apparatus is of the first order.
The tower is open ironwork, 164 feet high. Position, lat 5° 54′ S., long. 108° 20′ E.
