Sealed Tenders will be received at this Office up to Noon of Monday, the 15th July, for the Privilege of Slaughtering Cattle in the Eastern and Western Slaughter Houses for Twelve Months commencing the 1st August, 1872.
The Tenders may be for one or both of the said Slaughter Houses.
No Tenders will be received unless the Person tendering shall produce a Receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the Sum of $250 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which Sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if such Person shall refuse to carry out his Tender.
The Conditions shall be such as are set forth in "The Markets Ordinance, 1858," and "The Markets Ordinance, 1867," and the By-Laws issued thereunder; and shall be subject to such modifications as may be made by any subsequent revision of those Ordinances, or of those By-Laws.
The Conditions shall also exclude the right to interfere with the Slaughtering of Goats by, or for the Indian Troops and Police.
Each Tender inust be addressed to the Colonial Secretary, and state the exact Amount offered as Annual Rent, which Rent shall be payable monthly, and in advance.
The Tender should also state the calling and residence of the party tendering, and afford similar information as to the Sureties to be offered.

He must have a knowledge of building, and must have served his apprenticeship at a trade. Application must be made personally, for further particulars and terms, at the Office of the Surveyor General.

NOTICE.
Notice is hereby given, that the Crown Rents for the Half Year ending 24th June, 1872, should be paid into the Treasury on or before the 15th July next.

POST OFFICE NOTICE.

With reference to the Post Office Notification dated the 23rd February 1865, which was published in Government Gazette No. 8 of the 25th February, page 78, it is hereby notified that paid Correspondence for China and Japan conveyed from Australia and New Zealand to Point de Galle by British Packet, and from thence by French Packet, will henceforward be delivered free of charge.
Further, that, as under the new arrangement of the China and Australia Mail Services the Mails for the Australian Colonies forwarded from Hongkong by British Packet now reach Point de Galle after the departure of the Mail Packets for Australia, Mails for Australia and New Zealand will be made up and forwarded to Point de Galle by the French Mail Packets whenever advantage will be gained by so doing.
The Rates of Postage, which must be paid in advance on such Correspondence, whether for- warded by British or French Packet will be:-
24 cents each half ounce for Letters.
2 cents for each Newspaper or Price Current.
8 cents for each four ounces of Book Packets, or Packets of Patterns.
Registration Fee 12 cents each Letter.
