GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
It is hereby notified that Sailing "Chinese Passenger Ships" will not be granted Licenses, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 4 of 1870, to leave Hongkong during the months from April to September both inclusive, for the undermentioned Places; namely:-
AUSTRALIA,
NEW ZEALAND, OCEANIA,
and TASMANIA.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Tenders will be received at this Office, until noon on the 30th instant, for the Erection of a Public Market at Shaukiwan.
The Plans and Specification can be seen, and further particulars obtained, on application to the Surveyor General.
A proper Form of Tender can be procured at this Office.
The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any Tender.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Notice is hereby given that His Excellency The GOVERNOR in Council, under and in pursuance of Ordinance No. 14 of 1862, entitled: "An Ordinance for Granting Patents for Inventions within this Colony," has granted Letters Patent unto SIR WILLIAM THOMSON, of the City of Glasgow, Knight, for the exclusive use within the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and for the Periods hereinafter mentioned, of the following Inventions for which Her Majesty's Letters Patent have been obtained in England; that is to say:-
(1.) For securing to the said SIR WILLIAM THOMSON the exclusive right of using an Invention for "Improvements in transmitting, receiving and recording Instruments for Electric Telegraphs," for the term of 14 years from the 31st day of January, 1871.
(2.) For securing to the said SIR WILLIAM THOMSON the exclusive right of using an Invention for "Improvements in testing and working Electric Telegraphs," for the extended term of 8 years from the 20th day of February, 1872.
