GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The following Regulations under the Contagious Diseases' Ordinance, 1867, made by His Excellency the Adininistrator in Council, are published for general information.

THE CONTAGIOUS DISEASES' ORDINANCE, 1867.

Regulations made by His Excellency the Administrator in Council, under Sections XLVI and LXVIII of Ordinance No. 10 of 1867, for carrying into effect the provisions of the said Ordinance as far as relates to the Lock Hospital and the Medical Examination of Women.

FOR THE APOTHECARY.

1. Subject to such orders as may be, from time to time, given to him by the Colonial Surgeon or Visiting Surgeon, the Apothecary shall be responsible for the entire management of the Lock Hos- pital and for the correctness of all accounts connected therewith.

2. He shall duly administer to the patients all medicines and applications as directed by the Visiting Surgeon.

3. He shall arrange for inspection all the women who have to be examined and shall attend and assist the Visiting Surgeon during the inspection.

4. He shall examine the provisions and stores supplied by the Contractor and reject those not of proper quality.

5. He shall visit the wards frequently, be present at each meal and see that the food supplied to the patients is wholesome, properly cooked and properly served at the regular hours.

6. He shall report to the Visiting Surgeon all complaints made to him by the patients, either with regard to their food or their treatment in the Hospital.

7. He shall treat the patients kindly himself and see that they are kindly treated by the other employés at the Hospital.

8. He shall not admit into the Hospital any person without proper authority.

9. He shall not absent himself from the Hospital without leave from the Visiting Surgeon.

FOR THE MATRONS.

10. The Matrons shall be under the direction of the Apothecary and shall obey all his lawful orders.

11. Any complaints which they have to make should be made in the first instance to the Apo- thecary and afterwards, if necessary, to the Visiting Surgeon.

12. They shall be responsible for the wards, patients' beds and clothing being kept neat and clean. 13. They shall see that the patients wash and keep themselves clean.
