By Command,

CECIL C. SMITH, Acting Colonial Secretary.

FINDING OF THE COURT.

At 2 P.M. on the 17th day of June, 1875, the Peninsular and Oriental Company's Steam-ship Zambesi, Official Number 68,413, GEORGE FREDERICK CATES, Master, Number of whose Certificate of Competency is 3,055, when entering the Harbor of Victoria, came into collision with a Fishing Junk of 800 piculs burden, on board which were four men, four women, and seven children.

The Fishing Junk was submerged, and one man and five children drowned or missing. The Court finds that the collision was unavoidable, and no blame attributable to the Captain or Officers of the Zambesi.

The Court has therefore returned the Certificate to the Master. Given under our hands at Hongkong, this 19th day of June, 1875.
