CHINA SEA.

Position of the Raglan Bank.

Information has been received through the French Government, that the vessel Jackmel has passed near a shoal supposed to be the same as that seen by the British ship Lady Raglan in 1858 in lat. 9° 28′ N., and long. 109° 25′ E., and subsequently unsuccessfully searched for by H. M. S. Surveying Ship Rifleman in the year 1863.

The Jackmel passed close to the shoal, on which the sea was breaking heavily, and the position assigned to it by that vessel is lat. 9° 24' N., long. 109° 26′ E.

The position of this danger must be considered as approximate, and caution is necessary when navigating near it.

By Command of their Lordships,

Hydrographic Office, Admiralty, London, 19th February, 1875.

FREDк. J. EVANS,

Hydrographer.

This Notice affects the Admiralty Chart of the China Sea, No. 2660a: Also, The China Sea Directory, Vol. II., page 80.
