PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency JOHN GARDINER AUSTIN, Administrator and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.
Whereas by Section XVIII of Ordinance No. 17 of 1873, entitled,—An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to establish Lighthouses, Buoys, or Beacons within the Colony:-
"This Ordinance shall cominence and take Effect on such Day as shall hereafter be fixed by "Proclamation under the Hand of the Governor":-
Now, therefore, I, JOHN GARDINER AUSTIN, Administrator of the Colony of Hongkong, in pursuance of the said Section and by virtue of the Authority thereby in me vested, do hereby under iny Hand Proclaim, that the said Ordinance shall commence and take Effect on and from the Twenty- seventh Day of April, 1875.

The following Order made by His Excellency the Administrator in Council under "The Hongkong Lighthouses Ordinance, 1873," is published for general information.

No. 17 OF 1873.
ORDER

Made by His Excellency J. GARDINER AUSTIN in Council, this 27th day of April, 1875.
By virtue of the provisions of Section VI of the above mentioned Ordinance, it is ordered,-
1. That every Ship which enters the Waters of the Colony on and after the 27th day of
April, 1875, shall pay the following Light Dues, that is to say:-
One cent per ton.
2. It is further ordered, by virtue of Section VIII of the same Ordinance, that such Steamers of the Hongkong, Canton and Macao Steam-Boat Company, Limited, as enter the Waters of the Colony by day, and all Chinese Junks, be exempt from payment of Light Dues.
