LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

No. S. 292.-The following Bills were read a first time át a meeting of the Council held on the 28th October, 1920:-

A BILL

INTITULED

An Ordinance to authorize the Appropriation of a Supplementary Sum of Four million and twenty-six thousand three hundred and thirty-six Dollars and eleven Cents to defray the Charges of the year 1919.

WHEREAS it has become necessary to make further provision for the public service of the Colony for the year 1919, in addition to the charge upon the revenue of the Colony for the service of the said year already provided for:

BE it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

A sum of Four million and twenty-six thousand three hundred and thirty-six Dollars and eleven Cents is hereby charged upon the revenue of the Colony for the service of the year 1919, the said sup so charged being expended as hereinafter specified; that is to say:-

INTITULED

An Ordinance to apply a sum not exceeding Fourteen million and eighty-four thousand six hundred and sixty-two Dollars to the Public Service of the year 1921.

WHEREAS the expenditure required for the service of this Colony for the year 1921 has, apart from the contri- bution to the Imperial Government in aid of Military Expenditure and Charges on account of Public Debt, been estimated at the sum of Fourteen million and eighty-four thousand six hundred and sixty-two Dollars :

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the "Appropriation Ordinance for 1921".

2. A sum not exceeding Fourteen million and eighty-four thousand six hundred and sixty-two Dollars shall be and the same is hereby charged upon the revenue and other
