The following Report from the Registrar General, containing Returns of Births and Deaths for the Quarter ending 31st December, 1874, and of Births and Deaths for the year 1874, is published for general information.

SIR,-During the 4th Quarter of 1874, there were registered in the Colony 544 Births and 1,034 Deaths.
Of these numbers, 46 Births and 83 Deaths occurred among the British and Foreign Community, while among the Chinese there were 498 Births and 951 Deaths.
Among the British and Foreign Community, the Deaths were as follows:-

the remaining portion (32) being among non-residents of the Colony.
The Births were those of 23 Boys and 23 Girls.
The Births and Deaths among the Chinese Population were as follows, viz. :-
