NOTICE TO MARER.

EASTERN ARCHIPELAGO.
CELEBES ISLAND-NORTH COAST.
· Shoal Coral Ground in Strait of Banka.
Colonial Secretary.
The Netherlands Government has given Notice of the existence of two coral shoals lying nearly in the fai strait of Banka, north coast of Celebes island:
1. A shoal, on which the least water found was 32 fathoms, lying with the following bearings, viz.:-
Cape Coffin Likoepang flagstaff North cape.
.S. 563° E. .S. 391 W. .N. 80 W.
of
2. A shoal, on which the shoalest depth obtained was 6 fathoms, situated 9 cables north-west of the above shoal, and lying with the following bearings, viz. :—
Cape Coffin.
Likoepang flagstaff.
North cape.
.S. 541° E.
.S. 31 W. .N. 851 W.
NOTE. The south point of Nain island just open of North cape leads northward of this shoal ground.
[The bearings are Magnetic. Variation 120 Easterly in 1879.]
