A Telegraphic Despatch has been received from

the Right Hon. Sir MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH,

Bart.,M.P., stating that HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN has this day appointed His Excellency

JOHN POPE HENNESSY to be a Knight Com-

mander of the Most Distinguished Order of ST.
