COAST OF MIDDLE ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND.

aliminery notice issued by this Department, dated the 10th day of August last, it is hereby HURSDAY, the 1st day of JANUARY, 1880, a Light will be exhibited from the Lighthouse dog Akaroa Head, the position and characteristics of which are as follow:--- Head Lighthouse is situated on Akaroa Hend, at the castorn side of the entrance to Akaros Harbour,
fet in height, and is built of timber and painted white. The Light will be a Second Order Light, visible all round as far as the land admits, and will show A. Flash every Ten Seconds. la elevated about 270 feet above the sea, and, allowing 15 feet for the height of the eye, will be seen nautic miles in clear weather, and at lesser distances according to the state of the atmosphere.
