NOTICE.

Owners of Tenements assessed to the Police, Lighting, Water and Fire Brigade Rates, are hereby informed that the Rates for the Third Quarter of the year 1881 are payable in advance, during and within the Month of July.

Such Rates should be paid before the 31st July, as after that date immediate application will be made to the Supreme Court for the recovery of arrears.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.-No. 234.

Tenders will be received at this Office until

noon of Tuesday, the 12th of July, 1881, for taking up, cleaning and relaying the water main from No. 1 Tank to the top of Old Bailey Street. For form of tender, specification and further particulars apply at the Surveyor General's Office. No tender will be received unless the person

tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $100 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer,

which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if

such person refuses to carry out his tender,

should the tender be accepted.

The Government does not bind itself to accept

the lowest or any tender.
