In accordance with the authority given to him by Her Majesty, the Governor is pleased to direct that the Anniversary of the Queen's Birthday be
celebrated this year in Hongkong and its Depen-
dencies, on Tuesday, the 24th instant.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.-No.178. The Governor has been pleased to appoint the Honourable JAMES RUSSELL to be Registrar General, in addition to his office of Colonial Treasurer.
The Governor has beep pleased to appoint the Honourable FREDERICK STEWART to be a Police
Magistrate.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.-No. 179.
Tenders will be received at the Colonial Secre-
tary's Office until noon of Thursday, the 26th
instant, for the supply of 300 Bed Mats for
European and Indian Constables, and 250 Bed
Mats for Chinese Constables.
Samples can be seen at the Police Stores.
The Government does not bind itself to accept
the lowest or any tender.
