A number of Chinese Gentlemen, résident in

the Colony, having formed themselves into an

Association called the Po LEUNG KUK, with the object of assisting the Government in carrying

out the laws for the protection of women and

children, His Excellency the Administrator has been pleased to approve of the following rules

which are hereby published for general informa- tion.

Rules for the Society for the Protection of

Women and Children.

例條局長保開計

1. The object of the Society is to assist in the

suppression of the crime of kidnapping, and to provide for the rescue and restoration of kid- napped women and children. be 53/richar

2. The Society shall consist of members who

subscribe ten dollars or upwards, residents in the Colony. Statuter § 2

3. The Society shall have an Office in Hong-

kong.

4. The affairs of the Society shall be managed

by a Committee of ten members, who shall be

residents in the Colony. Statutes §4

5. The Committee shall be elected annually,

but vacancies caused by death or absence from

the Colony may be filled up from time to time. Statutes §4

6. Members of the retiring Committee will be

eligible for re-election, but no member can be a member of the Committee for more than three

years in succession.Started §4

7. The names of members elected on the

Committee shall be submitted to the Governor

within a week after the election.

8. The Committee shall elect from amongst its members a President, a Vice-President and

a Treasurer. During the temporary absence of

any of these Office Bearers the next senior

member of the Committee will take his place.
