In consequence of the transfer of the Land Office to the Registry of the Supreme Court, it is

hereby notified that EDWARD JAMES ACKROYD, Esquire, Registrar of the Supreme Court, is appointed Land Officer, and BRUCE SHEPHERD, Esquire, Deputy Land Officer.

These appointments are to date back to the 16th June, 1883, and the present notice is hereby substituted for Government Notification No. 215 of that date.

In consequence of the above appointments, Government Notification No. 500 of the 21st December, 1882, is hereby cancelled.

An examination for a Hongkong Government Scholarship will be held in the Government Offices, on Monday, the Sth proximo and following days, commencing at 10 A.M. each day. Candidates should send in their Certificates, and communicate personally with the Honorary Secretary to the Board of Examiners before the 1st of December.

It is hereby notified for general information that a Despatch has been received from Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies intimating that an Examination of Candidates for the Civil Service of India will be held in London in June, 1885. Particulars may be obtained on application at the Colonial Secretary's Oflice.
