No. 274.--His Excellency the Governor, under the powers conferred upon him by section 3 of the Treaty of Peace Order, 1919, Ordinance, 1920, and all other powers thereto him enabling, has been pleased to establish a Local Clearing Office in and for the Colony of Hongkong, and has appointed the Colonial Treasurer for the time being the Controller of the said Local Clearing Office for the purposes of the Treaty of Peace Order in Council, 1919.

NOTE. The attention of the public is drawn to the Treaty of Peace Order, 1919, which was published in the Gazette of the 9th January, 1920, and also to the Treaty of Peace Order, 1919, Ordinance, 1920, which was published in the Gazette of the 6th February, 1920. In particular, the public are warned that it is not lawful to pay or accept payment of any debt to which the Treaty of Peace Order refers except through the Local Clearing Office, and that creditors should give notice to the Local Clearing Office before the 10th June, 1920, of any debts due to them from German nationals which come within the Order in Council.
