No. 423.—It is hereby notified that information has been received from H.B.M.'s Consul-General at Shanghai that Hongkong has been declared to be an infected port.

No. 424.-It is hereby notified that information has been received from the American Consul General that the following Sanitary Measures will be adopted against Hongkong at all American ports including the Philippine Islands :-

(a.) Fumigation of vessel, after drydocking, to kill rats and insects. (b.) Disinfection of luggage of steerage passengers and forecastle
crews.
(.) Certification of shipping orders at American Consulate, for following cargo: Household goods; personal effects; used bedding, garments, gunnies, bags, sacks, matting, and embroideries; Rags; wool; furs; Fresh fruits, vegetables, milk and butter; Potted flowers and plants; Dogs; Cats; Poultry; and other small animals; Feathers; Hair; Bristles; Hides; Horns; Hoofs; Claws; Bone; Manure; Earth; Corpses.
(4) Ship's supplies:-
Water:-To be taken from the Colony's filtered supply. Ballast:-Only hard rock, clean sea beach sand, or sea
water allowed.
Vegetables, milk, butter, etc.:-Sources not restricted
unless Cholera is present.
(e) Medical Inspection before sailing.
2. At Ports of Arrival.
(a.) Medical Inspection, but no detention of vessel unless quaran-
tinable disease is found aboard, or has occurred en route.
Government Notification No. 660 of 28th October, 1902, is hereby cancelled.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT,
No. 425. It is hereby notified that information has been received from the Vice- Consul for Panama to the effect that the same quarantine regulations governing the departure- of vessels from Hongkong to the United States of America and the Philippine ports will be applied to vessels leaving this port for Panama, see Government Notification No. 423.
