The rainfall for the month of January at the Botanical Gardens was 0¡a.

in. '00 on O day, at the Matilda Hospital, Mount Kellett, it was 0.04 on 1 day, and at the Police Station, Taipo, it was 0.11 on 2 days.

The temperature of the air was considerably above normal from January 26 to 31. The mean maximum temperature during this period (706) was however exceeded on several occasions, notably in 1905 when from January 20 to 25 it was 78'3.

The wind velocity was the lowest on record.
