Kule made by the Governor in Council under Section 3 of the Boarding House Ordi- nance, 1917, Ordinance No. 23 of 1917, this 5th day of February, 1920.

The Rules made by the Governor in Council under section 44 (1) of the Asiatic Emigration Ordinance, 1915, and section 3 of the Boarding House Ordinance, 1917, on the 18th day of October, 1917, and published in the Gazette on the 19th day of October, 1917, as Government Notification No. 464 as amended by the Rules made by the Governor in Council on the 20th day of November, 1919, and published in the Gazette on the 21st day of November, 1919, as Government Notification No. 537 are hereby further amended as follows:-

By deleting the words "Two sufficient sureties" in the second line of rule 3 of the said rules and by substituting therefor the words in the case of all classes except Class V two sureties and in case of Class V one surety".

NEW MEMBER.-Mr. HUTCHISON took the Oath and assumed his seat as a Member of the Council.

The Minutes of the Meetings held on the 23rd December, 1919, were confirmed.

PAPERS.--The Colonial Secretary laid on the table the following paper :—

Preliminary Report on the Purchase and Sale of Rice by the Government of

Hongkong during the year 1919.
