It is hereby notified that, under instructions from the Right Honourable Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint His Honour JAMES RUSSELL, Esquire, Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Hongkong, in succession to His Honour Şir GEORGE PHILLIPPO, Knight, retired.
