SOUTH CHANNEL-ENTRANCE TO THE YANGTZE,

KIUTOAN GAS LIGHT-VESSEL.

Temporary removal of for repairs.

NOTICE is hereby given that in consequence of the Kiutoan Gas Light-vessel having been caused serious damage by collision, she has been temporarily removed for repairs, and that she has been replaced by the steam lighter" Wai Tung."

The Wai Tung" is a vessel of 350 tons, painted a dark colour, having one black funnel, one derrick, and one mast. The mast, which is surmounted by a black ball, has a yard across, from each arm of which one 7th Order Fixed White Light is exhibited by night. The Lights, which are 25 feet above the sea, should be visible in clear weather at a distance of 7 miles.

LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS, No. 54.

Pinnacle Rock in Sugarloaf Channel.

INFORMATION has been received from the Commander of H. B. M.'s Surveying Ship Waterwitch that a pinnacle rock with 8 feet of water over it at L. W. S. and 6 to 7 fathoms around exists to the Southward of Double Island in the following position:-

From the rock,

N. W. extreme of Double Island (ruins) bears N. 2° W.

South extreme of Fisherman Island bears S. 86° W. distant 4 cables.

North extreme of Sugarloaf Island S. 80° E.

Bearings are Magnetic.
