An Ordinance to remove doubts as to the validity of the proceedings of the Supreme Court of this Colony during the time that ALFRED GASCOYNE WISE Esquire held the office of Paisue Judge of such Court from the 25th day of June 1902 down to the present time.

Whereas ALFRED GASCOYNE Wisz Esquire was On August the 7th 1595 appointed a Puise Judge of the Supreme Court of this Colony under the provisions of the Supreme Court Ordinance 1873;

and whereas in the year 1902 the said Alfred GasCOYNE Wise Esquire temporarily accepted took and performed the office of Automey General of this Colony from the 1st April until the 25th June of the same year;

aird whereas wyler the provisions of the Supreme Court Ordinance 1878 section H1 doubts have arisen as to whe- ther his said office of Puisne Judge was not avoided by the temporary acceptance taking and performance by the said ALFRED GASCOYNE WISE Esquire of the office of Attorney General as from the date of such acceptance;

and whereas on the 25th June 1902 the said ALFRED GASCOYNE WISE Esquire resumed and is still holding the said office of Puisue Judge but was not then duly re- appointed to be Paisne Judge of the Supreme Court of this Colony;

and whereas in order to remove doubts it is expedient and necessary to validate and legalize the acts proceedings and business of the Supreme Court of this Colony during the period that the office of Puisne Judge has been held as aforesaid by the said ALFRED GASCOYNE WISE Esquire in so far as the validity of such acts proceedings and business may have been or may be deemed to have been thereby affected;

and whereas the Officer Administering the Government of this Colony by Letters Patent dated the 21st January 1907 bad under the provisions of section 9 of the Supreme Court Ordinance 1873 appointed the said ALFRED Gascoyne WISE Esquire to be a Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of this Colony as from the 25th June 1902.

BE it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Supreme Court Validating Ordinance 1907.
