Minutes of the proceedings of the SANITARY BOARD, at a meeting held on thursday, the 9th day of July, 1891-

AUSENT:
Minutes.-The minutes of a meeting held on the 25th day of June, 1891, were read and confirmed.
Water Analyses.-A report of the Analyses made on the Taitam and Pokfulam waters drawn from the respective mains during the mouth of June-which had been circulated to Members-was laid on the table.
Appearance of Taitam Water.-A letter from the Honourable Colonial Secretary-which had been circulated to Members having reference to the whitish appearance of the Taitam water after filtration, was laid on the table.
Complaint.-A letter complaining of a smoke nuisance--which had been circulated to Members-was laid on the
table.
The Vice-President moved,-
That the action recommended by the Secretary, in his minute on the letter, be adopted. The Acting Captain Superintendent of Police seconded.
Question-put and agreed to.
Mortality Returns.-The returns for the weeks ended the 27th June and 4th July, 1891, respectively-which had been circulated to Members-were laid on the table and a minute on the circulating cover read.

Hospital for Infectious Disease. The circulation of the précis of the papers regarding a hospital for the reception and treatment of cases of infectious disease had not been completed, and it was agreed that the consideration thereof should stand over till next meeting.

Reports.-The Surveyor's reports on the condition of house-drains at 57 to 81 (odd numbers), High Street, 1 to 16, Lai U Lane, to 25 (odd numbers), Pok-fu-lam Road, and 360 to 380 (even numbers), Queen's Road West, were read.
It was agreed that the owners of the houses in question be called on to re-drain them in accordance with the law governing house-drainage.
Reports.-The Superintendent's report for the month of June, 1891, the Surveyor's report for the second quarter 1891, and the Colonial Veterinary Surgeon's report for the second quarter 1891 were read.
Adjournment.-The Board then adjourned till thursday, the 23rd day of July, 1891.

With reference to Government Notification No. 216 of 6th May last, notice is hereby given that Ordinance No. 6 of 1891, The Sunday Cargo-Working Ordinance, comes into operation this first day of August.
